Arsene Wenger is looking to add to the clubs growing German contingent and Wenger requested detailed reviews on Borussia Dortmund pair Iikay Gundogan and Marco Reus and Bayern Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.

Lukasz Piszcek, Dortmund’s right back has also been linked with Arsenal, the Polish international is seen as a replacement for Bacary Sagna. 

Wenger has been under pressure for his thiinning Arsenal squad and it appears the signing of Mesut Ozil was only a start, more business is to be done in January. The hard working midfielder Lars Bender is regarded as the highest on the list of Wenger’s wish list. It is reported that the Gunners had an ÂŁ18.5 million bid rejected by Leverkusen in the summer transfer window. 

Jurgen Klopp, the Borussia Dortmund manager has said that he has no intention of selling either Reus or Gundogan but that won’t stop Wenger keeping tabs on the pair. 

Wenger currenntly has four German nationals in his squad, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski, Serge Gnabry and youngster Gedion Zelalem. Thomas Eisfeld is also on Arsenal’s books and one to watch out for in cup matches.

According to Sportsmail Arsenal’s interest in Ozil dated back to 2007 when he was at Schalke. Arsenal’s scouting campaign continues as they looked to sign Schalke young star Julian Draxler but Arsenal would not meet the 19 year olds ÂŁ40 million release clause. 

In the January transfer window, Wenger has also tried to sign goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and midfielder Mario Gotze.

In other news, Arsenal are reported to be interested in Barcelona defender Martin Montoya. The 22 year olds contract is to expire at the end of this season.
