Wenger: I don’t want Cech

The Arsenal manager is not “interested” in the Chelsea veteran

When asked about the possibility of signing the 32-year-old, Arsene Wenger admitted his current keepers are “world-class”.

Earlier this week, Petr Cech announced plans to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois.

Viktor Kola, Cech’s agent confirmed Besiktas was one of the possible destinations and that the Turkish club have made an enquiry about the Czech international.

Should Cech decide to move to Turkey he would be lining up alongside former Chelsea team-mate Demba Ba.

Manager’s intentions

Wenger looks to have ruled out Arsenal of the running in the bid to land the Chelsea shot-stopper with Cech preferring to remain in London.

“I don’t deal with the ‘if’. We have world-class goalkeepers, we’ve got three. We will start our business at the end of the season” said the Gunners manager.

Second place

The race to finish as runners-up is still achievable if Arsenal beat Manchester United this weekend – for a second time this season.

Arsenal will need to secure most of the remaining nine points available if they are to prevent Manchester City, who have a far superior goal difference, from finishing runners-up.
