West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is planning on making a formal transfer bid for former-Manchester United striker Diego Forlan as he tries to sort out his options up front.

The Hammers are seriously lacking a recognised striker since Andy Carroll picked up a serious injury, and in recent weeks, the London-based club have been deploying a 4-6-0 formation due to the lack of threat up front.

With the January transfer market just around the corner, Allardyce is desperate to start putting together a plan of action and his attentions have turned to Internacional striker, Forlan, who has a wealth of experience world football, despite his unsuccessful stint at Old Trafford.

However, despite bad memories of England, the 34-year-old could be tempted to make one last move in his career and Upton Park could be his final destination.
