Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti would be the ‘ideal’ signing for Barcelona, insists Spanish legend Xavi.
The 24-year-old performed outstandingly well in midfield against Barcelona a month ago as Paris Saint-Germain sealed a comfortable 4-0 victory in the Champions League.
Reports in Spain suggest that La Liga outfit Barclona approached Verratti last summer, while Premier League leaders Chelsea have also been closely monitoring the Italy international, who PSG value at £70million.
“Verratti would be the ideal signing for Barcelona in my opinion,” Xavi told Le Parisien.
“I think Verratti is a bit like me. He always goes in search of the ball quite deep on the pitch and then takes it forward and dictates play.
“Verratti is small just like me and he never loses the ball. His technique is incredible.
“He is a player I would love to see at Barcelona.”
