Arsene Wenger phoned Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema

0

Wenger has reportedly spoken to Karim Benzema about a move to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.

Benzema, who is also a target for Liverpool and Chelsea, has been dogged by speculation over his future in the last few weeks.

And amid rumours that Madrid have finally decided to put him up for sale, reports in Spain say Wenger has called up the striker to discuss a transfer to Arsenal.

It’s claimed that Wenger told Benzema he was keen on signing him and made it clear he would be offered huge wages to move to north London.

Arsenal are after a big name striker and have previously been linked with Edinson Cavani, but Benzema would likely be a cheaper and easier option to sign.

Liverpool eye up a move for PSG’s Cabaye

0

It has emerged Liverpool will hold talks on bringing in former Newcastle and current PSG midfielder Yohan Cabaye in January.

The Frenchman has been left frustrated by his lack of first team football and said that he would consider a return to England, if a deal was on the table.

Cabaye has been limited to substitute appearances in recent games and is growing restless about the amount of time he is spending on the bench.

PSG are said to want £20 million for him and would be willing to sell provided that bidding clubs matched their pricetag.

Arsenal have been heavily linked in the past with Cabaye, but their abundance of midfielders means Liverpool is the more likely destination for the French international.

Cabaye was finally sold by Newcastle in January for £19 million, but his move to the Parc des Princes certainly hasn’t worked out the way he would have wanted it.

Petr looking to Cech out of Stamford Bridge

0

The Blues shot-Stopper could be on his way to Italy in January after Roma reportedly opened up talks with Chelsea about signing the goalkeeper.

According to Italian publication Il Tempo, the Serie A club have been locked in negotiations with the Stamford Bridge outfit about a prospective move for the 32-year-old for the past few weeks.

It is thought that Roma are keen on bolstering their options in goal by bringing in an experienced shot-stopper while the move would also give Cech the chance to play regular first-team football.

Cech has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea this season following the recall of Thibaut Courtois from his loan move at Atletico Madrid – with the 32-year-old having made just two appearances for The Blues this term.

His situation in west London resulted in the goalkeeper recently admitting that he would consider leaving Chelsea if he did not get more playing time.

Should Cech complete a transfer to Roma this winter, he would be reunited with his former Blues teammate, Ashley Cole, following the left-back’s move to Italy this summer.

Emre Can Reveals he considered a move to Bayern Munich

0

Emre moved to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen during the transfer window, but has so far made just two appearances for the Reds due to injury.

However the German, who started his career as a youth player at the Allianz Arena, says he rejected the chance to return to Bayern in favour of a move to Liverpool.

‘Bayern had a buyback clause but that didn’t kick in until next year,’ Can told the Liverpool Echo.

‘There were some discussions with Bayern this summer but I decided the best thing for me would be to accept the opportunity to come to Liverpool.

‘Before I came here I had discussions with Brendan Rodgers and that made my mind up. From those talks I was very positive about this move.

‘This whole club is very ambitious and positive about how it wants to play football. That’s the way I want to play football too.

‘Liverpool believe in the same things and that’s why I came here. I want to stay here for a long time.’

Arsenal set to move for Draxler

0

Arsenal are finally expected to complete the signing of Julian Draxler in January for £37 million pounds.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is preparing for life without Mesut Ozil, who has failed to impress after his switch from Real Madrid last year.

It is understood that Wenger has grown in frustration with the German, and now sees Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler as the man who Arsenal need, with the boss ready to meet his £37 million buy-out clause once the window re-opens.

Draxler is seen as Ozil’s long-term replacement, with some reports suggesting that Ozil could leave at the end of the season to embark on a new challenge elsewhere.

‘Mourinho would get Knocked out in Sunday league’

0

Roy Keane has hit out at the Chelsea Boss stating that Jose Mourinho would get ‘knocked out’ on a Sunday morning if he pulled the same stunt he does in the Premier League, and that is to shake hands of a rival manager with a game still going on.

The Aston Villa assistant manager was referring to Mourinho offering to shake hands with Paul Lambert and himself before the end of Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

They both both immediately ignored his request and continued on with the game, speaking at his book launch Roy Keane said:

” It’s disgraceful. I’ve seen him doing it to other managers; it is a disgrace.

“The game is still going on. You wouldn’t do that on a Sunday morning, you would get knocked out.”

Arsenal target Draxler as Ozil replacement

0

The 20 year-old German was heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates this summer but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger opted to sign Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez for £30m instead.

Arsenal have had a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign, winning just two of their opening seven games and Wenger is reportedly ready to draft in Draxler to revitalise the injury-stricken squad.

The player who would be most under threat with the arrival of Draxler is fellow World Cup winner Mesut Ozil, who has failed to live up to his £42.5m price-tag since joining last year from Real Madrid.

The playmaker, who has recently been ruled out for three months with injury, has failed to adapt to Wenger’s 4-3-3 formation and will likely be spending more time on the bench with the arrival of the promising young German starlet in January.

Cech linked with Roma switch

0

Cech has become an out-of-favour keeper at Stamford Bridge this season as manager Jose Mourinho favours Belgian star Thibuat Courtois.

Courtois made a return to Chelsea after spending three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid where he won the La Liga title, and has now become first choice with the Blues, keeping veteran Petr Cech sidelined.

The 32 year-old has served 10 years with the club relatively unchallenged for the number one spot but it is reported that he is now becoming frustrated with his lack of playing time.

According to reports made in Italy, Roma are currently in talks with Chelsea over the possible January transfer of Cech.

The Serie A giants are currently looking for a replacement goalkeeper for retiring shot-stopper Morgan De Sanctis, who turns 38 in March.

If the deal manages to materialise, then the Czech will re-join former team-mate Ashley Cole, who made his switch to the Stadio Olympico during the summer after his contract with the Blues expired.

Cech has featured just twice for the Blues this season, starting in the club’s Capital One Cup game victory over Bolton and coming on for the injured Courtois in the Blues’ 2-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend.

Chelsea reject offer for ‘keeper

0

Chelsea have reportedly rejected a season long loan offer from Fulham for Mark Schwarzer.

Fulham made the approach for the experienced Schwarzer, who has yet to play a minute this season, and is third choice behind Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge.

But Jose Mourinho has rejected the offer as question marks remain over Cech’s long term future at the North London club, with a possible switch to Italian side Roma mooted.

Cech has found himself a spectator this season due to the early season form of Courtois.

And speaking to a Czech radio station, Cech has confirmed that he will look for a solution in January if the situation doesn’t change.

“I have not spoken to anyone but I think they know me well enough at the club to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine. With the Euros and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play.”

“If the situation will not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it.”

Manchester United set to launch world record bid for Gareth Bale

0

Manchester United are lining up a world record £90M bid to sign Real Madrid wing wizard Gareth Bale.

The Old Trafford club have been reportedly keeping tabs on the Welshman for several weeks now, and sources indicate they are finally ready to make an offer to the Spanish giants.

Bale has blossomed at the Bernabeu, but is thought to be an unpopular figure in the dressing room, with Bale apparently falling out with several of his team-mates.

The exact details of the bid are unclear at this stage, but the transfer, if it goes through, would beat the current record of £80M for Bale’s Madrid cohort Cristiano Ronaldo, ironically signed from Manchester United.

Liverpool right back to fight for place

0

Liverpool right back Glen Johnson has refuted claims he could look to move away from Anfield next year.

The defender has seen himself slip down the pecking order due to a thigh injury and the addition of Javier Manquillo in the summer.

Johnson’s current deal expires at the end of the season and talks over an extension have been inconclusive. This standoff has alerted Italian champions Juventus who were reportedly set to swoop with a transfer bid.

England international Johnson has put rumours of a transfer to rest by stating his desire to stay and fight for his place at last season’s Premier League runners-up.

“My body feels good. I just need some game time. We’ve got a practice match here at Melwood so it would be good to get 90 minutes in there. Other than that I feel good.”

“I just want to take it week by week. I’m back out on the pitch now and I want to stay fit and well and get back in the team and put in some good performances.”

Johnson has made over 170 appearances for Liverpool since his move from Portsmouth in 2009.

Premier League clubs warned off of Jordi Alba

0

Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have been warned off of a move for Jordi Alba by Barcelona, after City had a bid turned down for his services.

Manuel Pellegrini was looking to add the Spanish international to his ranks in January, but an early bid of around £25 million was turned down which has also dampened Arsenal and Manchester United’s interest.

Francis Gallardo, a FIFA agent, revealed that the bid from Manchester City had been turned down.

He said: “City is interested in a player of Barca…and made a bid for Jordi Alba but it was rejected by Barcelona.”

Alba was part of the Spain side which lifted Euro 2012 and has established himself as his nation’s first choice left back since 2011 following Joan Capedvilla’s retirement.

He’s also an important part in Barcelona’s XI which is why boss Luis Enrique isn’t willing to let the 25 year-old leave for any fee, meaning the trio will now have to look elsewhere come January.

Xherdan Shaqiri set to decide his future in January

0

Unsettled Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri will reassess his standing within the club when the January transfer window opens.

22-year-old Shaqiri tried to force a move away from the Allianz Arena this summer, with Manchester United and Liverpool both rumoured to be interested.

But a move never maerialised. Now outcast Shaqiri is prepared to wait until the New Year to decide his future.

Shaqiri said:

‘I was looking for more first team action this season, everyone knows that.

‘We had a sit down and discussed things with Bayern Munich. I received a clear message. I have to stay. I accepted that.

‘We will have a look at things again in the winter. We will have to figure things out. I have a long-term deal with Bayern, so it is the club that will decide.

‘If the club does not want to sell me or let me go, then that is positive news for me’.

Shaqiri is nicknamed the ‘Alpine Messi’. He joined Bayern from Swiss side Basel in 2012 for 11.6M Euros.

Emmanuel Emenike eyed by Spurs and Arsenal

0

Fenerbache striker Emmanuel Emenike could be the subject of a transfer battle between North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Emenike joined the Turkish giants in 2013 from Spartak Moscow, and has founed the net 13 times so far in 31 appearances in Turkey.

Tottenham have so far been uninspired by Roberto Soldado since his big money move from Valencia, and with Emmanuel Adebayor’s inconsistency it could make Mauricio Pochettino look at a move for the Nigerian international.

Arsenal signed signed Danny Welbeck recently to fill the forward position, but with Olivier Giroud out injured until 2015 it may force Arsene Wenger to look for alternatives come January should Welbeck suffer from injury or poor form.

With Fenerbache rating Emenike at around £15 million, it would be a good price to sign the 27 year-old who will soon hope to hit the peak of his ability within the next couple of seasons, so may be worth the gamble for either of the North London sides.

Seamus Coleman interests Manchester United and Chelsea

0

Everton could be facing a battle to keep Seamus Coleman on their hands in January, after it emerged Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing a move for the full-back.

Coleman has been one of Everton’s most consistent players over the last couple of seasons, earning many plaudits for his attacking ability when moving forward from the back.

The Irishman would fit Louis Van Gaal’s philosophy of playing with attacking full-backs and he’d be a good compliment for Luke Shaw on the other side.

Chelsea are also mentioned to be interested, and with John Terry not getting any younger Branislav Ivanovic could soon be moved back into a central defensive position, leaving a vacancy at right back.

Roberto Martinez will however hope to keep hold of the 25 year-old who was given his chance in the Premier League by the Mersyside club back in 2009 after joining from Irish outfit Sligo Rovers.
