Schwarzer thinks Courtois will get a new deal

0

Mark Schwarzer believes Chelsea wil offer Courtois a new deal to keep the highly rated goalkeeper.

The belgian has spent 3 seasons on loan in Madrid and produced an impossible save as Athletico beat Chelsea 3-1 on aggreggate to progress to the champion league final. He has forged a reputation of being one of the finest shot stoppers in Europe and Schwarzer believes he has a bright future ahead of him.

“He did very well and it was no surprise that Chelsea signed him and want to keep him at the club. I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him a new deal,” Schwarzer was quoted as saying by Spanish paper Marca.

“He is very special and it is no surprise that Chelsea signed him a couple of years ago. There has been a lot spoken about him and he has been outstanding. He was outstanding [against Chelsea] and he has a huge, huge career ahead of him.

“He’s had a fantastic season, as has Atletico. They’re top of La Liga and vying to win the championship and now the Champions League final too.”

Schwarzer however admits the blues have a though desicion to make – Courtois or Cech as their nimber 1?

“It’s a very tough decision and I’m glad I’m not the one that has to make it.

“I don’t have a clue what they will decide on. They are both world-class keepers. I wouldn’t even say they are at different ends of their careers because Pete still has a long way to go in his. He can improve at 31.”

Liverpool interested in Magpie Winger

0

Hatem Ben Arfa has been the latest player to be linked with The Reds as they look to bolster their squad over the summer to help cope with the Champions League football come next season.

The 26 year-old has been under Liverpool’s radar for a while but it looks like The Reds are ready to pounce on the Newcastle Winger. Hatem has had very few first team outings this season for Newcastle but has shown signs of brilliance at times during previous seasons at Newcastle and at former side Marseille.

However, the french winger has been expelled from Newcastle first team training sessions after an on going row with Magpie boss Alan Pardew that has dragged on since the last summer transfer window. The row has wrecked relationship with the Manager and Player.

Liverpool FC will be looking to sign him up for a bargin 6 million pound deal as Pardew will want to offload the troublesome French winger as soon as the transfer window opens in summer.

Man United and Man City do battle for Fabregas

0

Man City and Man United will go head-to-head this summer to try and sign Cesc Fabregas, according to reports. The Barcelona man is believed to be available at the end of the season despite playing a key role for the club this term.

The Catalan side’s below-par performances in La Liga and in the Champions League mean that they are ready to overhaul their squad this summer, with Fabregas believed to be one of the players they are willing to let go.

The Red Devils chased the midfielder last year but a deal never happened and they are still keen on him. City are looking to strengthen their midfield and with the expected departure of Gareth Barry, who has been on loan at Everton this season, they will want a replacement.

Arsenal may also try to tempt their former player back to the Emirates, if it becomes clear that he is willing to leave Barca. This means that iFabregas could end up back in the Premier League for the 2014/15 season, if one of these teams claims his signature.

Van Gaal wants money for Kroos, Reus and Hummels this summer

0

Current Holland manager Louis van Gaal hopes to complete his deal with Manchester United within the next week as the World Cup nears and he will once again return his mind to helping his side triumph in Brazil.

Guus Hiddink is said to be the next Holland manager after the departure of van Gaal and his goalkeepeing coach, Frank Hoek has promised to tell Hiddink whether he will stay with the national side or move to England with van Gaal.

Another major issue for van Gaal is ensuring that United have a suitable budget to spend in the summer transfer window, as they continue to target Bundesliga stars Toni Kroos, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, who van Gaal belives will all help the Red Devils next season.

Senior sources with the Old Trafford side refuse to reveal the identity of Moyes’ successor, despite van Gaal being the most likely candidate.

They argue it would be wise to be patient and wait for a world class manager such as Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid to become avalibale.

As for the three German targets, their combined cost would be in the region of ÂŁ100m – even before United can begin to look at Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.

The trio are certainly a hefty price to pay but the deal may be softened should Shinji Kagawa decide to return to Borussia Dortmund as part of the deal.

One way or the other, Louis van Gaal would like negotiations to be wrapped up as soon as possible so he can begin his plans on revitalising a United side desperate for inspiration.

“We’re heartbroken. One game to the final and we couldn’t quite manage it – we’re devastated.

“We started off really well but they got back into the game. We tried to create, the effort was there, but we just fell short. They’re a good side. They caused us a few problems and their ‘keeper produced a fantastic game.

“We have to be over it by the weekend. At the moment it’s raw and it will take some getting over but we’ll see what happens in the next few days.”

The blues will switch their attention to the premier title this weekend, where they host Norwich City and are only 2 points behind league leaders Liverpool

Barcelona to beat Arsenal to ÂŁ29million Athletic Bilbao star?

0

Barcelona are willing to meet Aymeric Laporte’s ÂŁ29million release clause in order to beat Arsenal and Bayern Munich to the Athletic Bilbao defender’s signature.

It was rumoured earlier this month that Guardiola was monitering Laporte at Bayern, who is arguably one of the best young central defenders in Europe. Barcelona are frantically searching for a replacement for long serving legend Carlos Puyol, who will call time on his career at the end of the season.

The Nou Camp side are now able to buy players again after their transfer ban was lifted, and reports in Spain are claiming they are ready to spend big to sign the 19 year old this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also been tracking the defender, but Barcelona look set to land him this summer.

0

West Brom manager, Pepe Mel, wants to be reunited with Arsenal youngster, Joel Campbell, next season.

Mel’s future currently hangs in the balance, but this has not stopped him from beginning to draw a list of targets for next years campaign.

Campbell, currently on-loan at Greek side Olympiakos, previously played for Pepe Mel at Real Betis. The costa-rican starlet joined Arsenal three years ago but has spent his entire career out on loan after failing to gain a work permit initially.

Campbell has made 25 appearances for Olympiakos this season, scoring 8 goals, becoming a vital part of the Greek side’s Champions League campaign earlier in the season.

Chelsea prospect doesn’t fancy return to Stamford Bridge

0

Vitesse loanee Christian Atsu has said that he wants to remain on loan at the Dutch club to continue playing in their attacking team.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has often been accused in recent weeks of playing too defensively, and Atsu appears to have noticed this as he begins to plan his future beyond this summer.

It all depends on Chelsea,” he told Voetbal International. “If they say that I have to stay in London, then why not?

“Here, I get the chance to develop myself and at Vitesse we play an attacking system.

“Suppose I move to a bigger club and am placed on the bench or I move to a team that plays counter-attacking football that would leave me feeling like I am going to the office and taking a nap on my desk.”

The 22-year-old has made 27 appearances for Vitesse in all competitions this term and has an outside chance of going to the World Cup with Ghana.

Sagna to hold Man City talks after FA Cup final

0

Bacary Sagna will hold talks with Man City after the FA Cup final this month. The Arsenal defender is in the middle of a long-running contract wrangle with the club and he looks certain to leave when his current deal expires in the summer.

Sagna’s advisors have already held talks with various clubs overseas such as Galatasaray, Inter Milan and PSG but transfer regulations don’t allow discussions with clubs in the same country until the end of the season.

The right-back is contemplating all his options before deciding where his future lies. It doesn’t appear to be at Arsenal as the Gunners latest contract offer, which offers ÂŁ80,000-per-week for three years, falls short of the player’s ÂŁ100,000-per-week wage demands.

Sources close to the defender claim he will be rejecting this final contract offer from Arsenal and that a meeting will be held between Man City and Sagna after the FA Cup final this month, over a move to the Etihad.

Everton facing battle to keep Gareth Barry

0

On-loan Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry could find himself in the middle of a large transfer tug of war this summer.

Barry is currently on loan at Everton until the end of the season, and while The Toffees are hoping to make the deal permanent over the summer, other clubs have now made their interest clear. He will be a free agent in July and Everton have offered him a two year deal worth around ÂŁ50,000 per week, a hefty drop from his current wage of ÂŁ80K per week.

Barry has enjoyed his season at Goodison Park, and has revelled in his role sitting in midfield. He has played a key role in helping younger players in the squad such as Ross Barkley and James McCarthy develop. However, counter offers could be made by Arsenal and Tottenham, and also French club Monaco.

Monaco would provide a comfortable ending to Barry’s career, with a pace of football to which he could easily adapt after plently of experience in the competitve nature of the Premier League.

Chelsea been made to pay for poor attacking record, says Carragher

0

Jamie Carragher has highlighted Chelsea’s poor goalscoring record in Champions League semi-finals after they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Atletico Madrid. The Blues also exited the competition at the same stage in 2005 and 2007 and Carragher was unimpressed with their attacking on each occasion.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “Think of the attacking talent at Chelsea. But they’ve scored two goals in six Champions League semi-finals. They had an off night defensively and didn’t have enough creativity.” Carragher also said he believed the decision to take Samuel Eto’o off in the 54th minute was a costly one from Jose Mourinho.

He said: “I thought it was a bit early to go two up front and leave two in midfield. It had been a tight game. I thought Mourinho had patience in these big games but I think he went a bit early with the substitution.”

Atletico Madrid, who were the victors last night over Chelsea, have now booked a place in the Champions League final against rivals Real Madrid.

Luis Suarez insists he’s going nowhere

0

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says ‘nothing is going to happen’ to him in regards to his future at Anfield. The new PFA player of the year has managed to bag 30 goals this season and has seriously enhanced his reputation as one of the world’s best players.

The forward signed a new contract at the club in December but it hasn’t stopped Real Madrid thinking about making a move to take him to the Bernabeu. When Suarez was questioned on Canal 10 in Uruguay about whether they should contact him in England or Spain next year, he replied:

“I’m very happy here and my family is happy here. Don’t worry nothing is going to happen to me. If we could win the Premier League and bring the trophy home it would be incredible, a dream come true.”

That dream of his currently rests with Man City and their visit to Everton this weekend. If Man City drop points, then the title will be back in the Reds hands after a frustrating loss to Chelsea last weekend. But if City do win, then the title could be just out of their reach.

Mourinho states that Chelsea are unlikely to win a trophy this season

0

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is unsure that Chelsea will even win a trophy this season.

Mourinho’s Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League last night, following a 3-1 home defeat to Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

The result means that Chelsea may finish the season trophyless, to the annoyance of both Mourinho, and Roman Abramovich.

And Chelsea are also two points behind Liverpool in the title race, with two Premier League games to play.

Mourinho stated in his post match interview.

“We are realistic, but at the same time we are optimistic,” he said.

“When things go in a certain direction, there is a moment where you dream and you think that things are possible, even if things are not.

“And because we did well in the Champions League and in the Premier League, there was a moment where we felt we could do it.

“In the Premier League it was the match against Aston Villa that made me believe that we had no chance to be champions.

“After that we build again the momentum and we were waiting for the Liverpool match to be the title match, but we had another surprise against Sunderland.
