Now. let’s run through the Chelsea player ratings vs Crystal Palace from the Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Premier League week 7 game:

Chelsea player ratings vs Crystal Palace:

Thibaut Courtois

Big save in the opening three minutes of the game to deny Wilf Zaha. Could do nothing about the opening goal with the ball bouncing around the place. 4

Cesar Azpilicueta

Too easily beaten by Andros Townsend down the right and Chelsea were getting caught out in that channel. Exactly what happened for the Zaha goal.

Things didn’t get much better for the defender in the second half as Zaha gave the whole Chelsea backline a torrid time. 3

David Luiz

Just did everything at his own pace, but at times got caught out with the rest of the defence. Was getting a bit frustrated with the play ahead of him.

Palace had no out and out striker, but Luiz looked like he was struggling more today than any other game this season. 3

Gary Cahill

Threw himself in to challenges, but again got beaten a few too many times and part of a defence that conceded twice to Palace.

However, in the second half he looked just as lost as the others when defending against a determined Zaha. 3

Victor Moses

Tried to get down the right wing, but often got caught out behind him. Had to come off with an injury after 39 minutes. 4

Marcos Alonso

Didn’t really effect the game that much and got caught out behind him. Had one good chance was blocked.

Some of his passing in the second half was really quite poor and it broke down moves on the left. 4

Cesc Fabregas

Tried to get the play moving forward. However, the passing wasn’t that great and the play broke down. Good corner in for the Chelsea goal.

Got into the game a lot more in the second half and played lovely balls over the top when he had time. 4

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Really put himself about in the middle of the park and fought for every ball. Showed his threat from corners with his goal and looked pretty solid in the middle of the park.

Wasn’t quite as effective in the second half and couldn’t put himself about as much. Doesn’t seem to have the vision to cut teams open. The midfield was severely missing Kante. 5

Willian

Didn’t really effect the game that much, despite having the ball at his feet quite a bit. Couldn’t really do that much with it.

Second half might have even got worse before being subbed off. 3

Eden Hazard

Tried to make an impact, but seemed a little off his best. Swarmed by defenders whenever he had the ball, but grew into the game more and almost had a good opportunity at the end of the first half.

Nothing came off for the Belgian in the second half and he couldn’t even manage to set Chelsea going at all. 4

Michy Batshuayi

His only meaningful contribution was a header in his own box. Apart from that, hardly in the game.

Taken off early in the second half and was furious. 2

Substitutes

Davide Zappacosta

Along with Azpilicueta got beaten by Zaha for the second goal.

Had a lot of possession in the second half and put in some decent balls, trying to make an impact. But nothing went for him. 5

Pedro

He tried to make things happen. However, most of the time he just ran into a brick wall. 4

Charly Musonda

After all the off the field drama, he came on in the second half and looked lively. Tried to make things happen, way more than Willian had been able to. 5
