Ballon d’or winner 2025 dembele
On September 22, 2025, Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembélé was awarded the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or at a ceremony held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
The 28-year-old won the prestigious award after a career-best season where he was instrumental in leading PSG to a historic continental treble, winning the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, and the Coupe de France.
His outstanding individual campaign included remarkable statistics of 35 goals and 16 assists across all competitions. Dembélé finished ahead of Barcelona’s 18-year-old Lamine Yamal, who placed second, and his PSG teammate Vitinha, who came in third.
An emotional Dembélé received the trophy from Brazilian legend Ronaldinho and dedicated the award to his mother, his teammates, and coach Luis Enrique, whom he described as being “like a father”. This victory marks him as the sixth Frenchman to ever win the Ballon d’Or.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon d’Or
Since 2008 the award had been shared between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who have been on their best form among the other footballers. However, in 2018, Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or and ended their long streak. He become the first player other than Messi and Ronaldo to claim the award in more than a decade, after Kaka in 2007.
