It’s been two very sad days for professional sports and football as well, as we received the terrible news that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, 13, passed away in a helicopter accident on Sunday. The event took place early near Malibu, California and it was first reported by TMZ, and it has spread like wildfire throughout the world of sports.
Those who didn’t know, Kobe Bryant was an avid football fan who was extremely knowledgeable in the subject. He lived in Italy from the age of 6 until he was 13, he accompanied his father while he played professional basketball during that era. In that time, Kobe experienced the true golden era in Italian football.
The 41-year-old legend lived in Milan during the second half of the ’80s decade. To those who don’t recall, this was the era in which that legendary AC Milan from Arrigo Sacchi played extraordinary football. Kobe Bryant was witness to the magical moment in which the Rossoneri took the throne from Diego Maradona himself.
In addition to being an AC Milan supporter, he was also a great admirer of Barcelona. He used to visit the team quite often, claiming “Barcelona is my La Liga team”. The deceased ex-basketball player had many friends at the Blaugrana: Messi, Ronaldinho, Iniesta, Puyol.
