Bundesliga ready to continue

The meeting of the German Football League (DFL), scheduled for Friday, has been postponed to April 23, to give the clubs of the second league time to prepare for the upcoming decisions, and the first league players are preparing to continue the championship.

According to experts, matches in front of empty stadiums could play for at least another year.

All football activities in Germany were suspended until at least April 30. Current security measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by German authorities are valid until April 19, with Chancellor Angela Merkel and German provincial authorities discussing them on Wednesday. But there are no announcements that some sports-related measures will be lifted.

The Bundesliga teams have been preparing for more than a week for the possible continuation of the matches in May, which will surely be played in front of the empty stands, and this is slowly being accepted by the fiercest opponents of this decision among the fans. According to some experts, the stadiums could be without fans in the stands for more than a year.

The president of the influential academy of sciences called Leopold, Gerald Haug, told fans that they should be patient.

“It will definitely take months, and maybe 18 months to wait,” Haug said in an interview with state television ARD, adding that it would be wise to insist on spectator-free matches until a coronavirus vaccine is detected, which scientists say may last at least until the end of this year.
