This weekend, Switzerland will play England in the quarterfinals. Although British Superstar Wade Barrett is more accustomed to weighing in on WWE action, the Englishman has voiced concerns about his country’s performance at Euro 2024. The current SmackDown co-commentator and former Intercontinental champion is an avid football enthusiast who has been closely following the Three Lions in Germany.
Barrett expressed his concerns about Gareth Southgate’s team and their current form in a DAZN exclusive made possible by AceOdds. Barrett also compared the team to the 2016 group. “I would say that I’m somewhat worried. We’ve had terrible starts to the season,” Barrett remarked.
We ought to have received a point in the match against Serbia. We ought to have lost the match against Denmark. We are not deserving of this situation. In addition, England feels flattered by the result, which is absurd given our personnel.
“The tournament came and went, and we kept being terrible after that. In 2016 and today, the issues our team was facing with not connecting and clicking were precisely the same. And these things don’t just magically transform in an instant.”
WWE wrestling star Wade ‘Bad News’ Barrett gives his predictions on England
In addition to France, England was predicted to win the tournament before it started, and although Barrett maintains hope for a victory in Germany, significant adjustments must be made.
“Well, I’m not going to write everything off just yet, but I have zero faith that this will be resolved the way they’re playing.” Furthermore, I believe that Gareth Southgate is not up to the task of making the kind of tactical or personnel changes that are necessary.
