Everton are ready to approach RB Leipzig for Jean-Kevin Augustin but are demotivated by his ÂŁ38m price tag. Marco Silva is considering an exchange deal with Ademola Lookman to reduce the hefty asking fee.

Lookman did excel in the Bundesliga last season while on loan with Leipzig, scoring 5 goals in 11 appearances for the side. However, he has only managed sporadic appearances this season under Silva, mostly as a substitute.

It is understood that Leipzig still holds an interest for the youngster and did try to keep him permanently this summer.

Everton, on the other hand, are struggling to get going on the attacking front. Cenk Tosun has fared poorly since his transfer from Besiktas a year back. Augustin, currently 21 is already showcasing his talents in the German top-flight.

The Frenchman has scored 8 goals in 23 games this campaign and could be the man to turn things around for the Toffees. Augustin is a versatile attacker and has the skill to fit into Silva’s offensive system at Goodison Park.

He is yet to make his senior international debut for France but has been capped at U21 levels and below. Everton do have a lot of unnecessary pieces lying around which they can sell to raise funds for this ambitious move.
