Lookman admits Marco Silva’s backing at Everton is important for him

Ademola Lookman was on target as Everton whistled past League Two outfit Lincoln City 2-1 in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The youngster returned to the line up after recovering from an ankle injury and admitted that Marco Silva’s backing is a very important factor for him at Everton. The 21-year-old played his first full game for the Toffees since the 3-0 win over Apollon Limassol in the UEFA Europa League back in 2017.

Lookman, who impressed on his loan spell at RB Leipzig in the second half of the last season, was wanted by the Bundesliga outfit in the summer. Although he has started only once in the Premier League this season, the youngster feels that the manager’s backing gives him a lot of confidence.

“I think it is the first header I have scored,” Lookman said following the victory. “I am just happy to score. For me, I am just trying to concentrate and keep working hard every single day in training and trying to improve myself and do what I can do.”

When asked what Silva said, the youngster revealed:  “The manager just said to keep working hard every single day and be myself and keep going.

“For me, I work hard every single day and I have family and friends who help me and keep me focused. All I think about is playing football and that’s all I want to think about. The backing of the manager is important for sure.”
