Jose Mourinho is at standby from taking over Zinedine Zidane’s post at Real Madrid, according to the latest reports.
The Portuguese tactician is eager to return to the Madrid and has reportedly rejected plenty of offers around Europe after being sacked from Manchester United.
However, Mourinho has not been an absent figure from football over the past year, making several appearances of TV as a pundit. He has expressed a desire to only sign with a club who’s objectives will line up with his.
A reputable source of Duncan Castles claim that the former Porto boss is waiting for the Real Madrid hot seat to be made available. Zidane’s managerial deficiencies have been exposed this season, in his second stint as the Galacticos manager without the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo. Los Blancos drew goalless against Atletico Madrid on Sunday and have won only 4 of the 7 La Liga games played so far.
Mourinho is confident of lifting Real’s spirits with his positive relationship with club president, Florentino Perez. The latter wants a tactically astute manager with a lot of experience in Europe.
Mourinho’s three-year spell at the Spanish capital was not his most prolific but certainly successful enough to warrant a second callup. He even admitted that his time at Spain was “the most beautiful” time of his career.
