The young Chelsea player Genesis Antwi has formally agreed to a new long-term deal with the team after an incredible 2024–25 campaign. In addition to his original three-year contract, the Sweden U21 international has an option to stay at Stamford Bridge for a further two years.

Antwi made two first-team appearances for Enzo Maresca’s team during the previous season, both of which took place in the Europa Conference League. Since becoming a vital member of Chelsea’s U21 team, Antwi has been training with the senior team on a regular basis at Chelsea’s Cobham headquarters.

Despite being a right-back by nature, the 18-year-old can also play as a right winger, and in both of his first-team Chelsea outings last season, he was used in a more advanced position. Antwi has already made five appearances for Chelsea’s U21 team this season, and he scored his first goal in the Blues’ 3-2 triumph over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.

Genesis Antwi signs new Chelsea contract

Chelsea has now rewarded him for his outstanding performance at the academy level by formally announcing that the teenager has signed a new contract. In September 2024, Antwi signed his first professional contract with Chelsea, which he has since extended until at least 2028.

During the last summer transfer window, the defender, who joined Chelsea’s academy as an Under-12, was strongly connected to a move to Strasbourg. However, the proposed transfer fell through, and he has since signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Maresca told reporters after Antwi’s professional debut against Djurgardens the previous season: “We always try to give them chances when they deserve.” He worked with us when we required him for a portion of the season.

He collaborates with us when we summon him. We are glad to offer him the opportunity since he is performing well with the U21s and when we call him.
