10th in England, but best in Europe? Really Gervinho?

Arsenal winger, Gervinho, believes Arsenal can go on and win the Champions League depsite having a very poor start to the season.

The Ivorian has not been impressed with the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid and believes Arsenal can do what London rivals, Chelsea did last year and surprise the footballing world.

The Gunners have already qualified for the knockout stages with a game spare and they travel to Olympiakos on Tuesday night to see if they can take top spot off of Schalke.

Gervinho has said: “I don’t think Barcelona and Real Madrid have been at their best this season.

“Chelsea are not through yet and Manchester United have had to work hard to win their games too. There is no big favourite.

“You have to expect the unexpected this season once again. You cannot underestimate anyone going into the last 16.

“One of the objectives of the club is to win the Champions League. We will do anything we can to do it.”

Gervinho is part of the squad flying to Greece on Tuesday, but a lot of first team players have been left at home because of fatigue.
