Milan has been monitoring Depay for last few months

Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay is a AC Milan transfer target this summer, according to Calciomercato.

Depay has been a long time target for Milan and has been monitoring him for last couple of months. Club’s director of football Massimiliano Mirabelli has already went to France several times to watch the Lyon star in action.

Milan’s manager Gennaro Gattuso, who signed a new contract extension earlier this week until 2021 and has been promised that he will have a say in club’s tranfer, is a big admirer of the Dutch International.

Gattuso has told the club that the player would be a good reinforcement for next season and has given green light to sign the forward.

According to reports, Milan will have to pay at least  €40 million to lure the 24 year old to Italy. But it won’t be easy as not only other European clubs are interested in him but his former club Manchester United have the first option to buy him if they plan to bring him back to England again.

Depay struggled at Manchester United and couldn’t established himself as regular for the club. Since he moved to Lyon, he has rediscovered his form and is an important member of the team. He has scored 16 goals and assisted 13 in all competitions for Lyon this season.
