Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has declared that he never even considered leaving the North London club and is relishing the competition that has been brought in over the summer transfer window.

Gareth Bale left the club for Spanish giants Real Madrid but Spurs have bolstered their squad with a number of top signings especially in attacking positions. Andre Villas-Boas now has many more attacking options to his disposal.

Adebayor was heavily linked with a move away from the North London club this summer but has said that he had no intention of moving away.

He told All Africa.com: “I decided with my manager, even before the start of the transfer window that I would not leave Tottenham and that’s what I did.”

“I have never thought of leaving Spurs. I am here, my family feels great here and I do not see myself in another city.”

Roberto Soldado, a summer signing from Valencia has moved straight into the starting line up and Eric Lamela, another summer signing from Roma stands in the way of Adebayor. Jermaine Defoe also appears to still be in AVB’s plans. Adebayor is still confident that he will be first choice striker under manager Andre Villas-Boas.

He said: “Today I will not tell you that I ‘m stronger than Soldado or Defoe or Lamela.”

“We now have four in the attack, I do not know who ranks first, second or third but I know at the end I will be the first and it is the most important.”
