Winger fears repeat of Burnley horror show
Sunderland winger Adnan Januzaj is fearing a thrashing at home to Liverpool today if they repeat the performance they showed against Burnley on New Year’s Eve.
The Black Cats displayed a defensive horror show at Turf Moor, and Januzaj says that if it’s repeated, they could be 6-0 down at half time in today’s fixture.
‘We know that we can’t make the mistakes we have against Liverpool or we could be five or six down by half-time,’ Januzaj, on loan from Manchester United, admitted.
‘But we have to try to bounce back and make it difficult for them.’
Defensive errors were the causes of all 4 of Burnley’s goals against them on Saturday, leaving Sunderland still in the relegation zone.
‘We will do our best to prepare for Liverpool in the time we have,’ Januzaj added. ‘We know that we can still win the game if we play to our best in front of our own fans.’
