The summer transfer window may be over, but the Neymar saga is far from over.

Neymar’s father has revealed he is still in touch with La Liga giants Barcelona, so as to force his son’s move from the Ligue 1 champions.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona may yet seal a deal for Neymar as negotiations are not over, according to the forward’s father and agent.

There was a lot of talks surrounding Neymar’s future at his current club Paris Saint-Germain during the recently-closed summer transfer window. The Brazilian megastar wanted to return to his former club Barcelona and the delegates from the Spanish giants tried everything they could to bring back the forward.

PSG sporting director Leonardo confirmed Neymar wanted to leave the club and was available for transfer if the right offer was made. However, the deal failed at the last moment and he ended up staying in the French capital.

Neymar’s father has now revealed that the former Santos star was left deeply saddened after his friends in Barcelona asked why didn’t he return to the club. He further revealed that Neymar  still dreams of playing with Lionel Messi once again since leaving for PSG in a world-record fee of €222 million in 2017.

“The negotiations between clubs are not over,” he said in an appearance at Edinburgh Sports Conference quoted by Marca. “Neymar just wants to be where he is happy and he was very happy at Barcelona. When his friends asked him if he wanted to return, it touched him.”

Barca reportedly made €100 million plus players bid to PSG to force a move through, with Ousmane Dembele and Ivan Rakitic among those said to have been offered.

“As an agent, you feel weak when there is no structure that allows you to come and go,” added Neymar’s father. “There was no release clause in his contract and this makes things very difficult. We fought to find an agreement. We gave the best of ourselves for him.”

Neymar will now return to Paris after the international break and could make his first Ligue 1 appearance of the 2019/20 campaign against Lebo Mothiba’s Strasbourg on Saturday.
