The striker has barely featured for the Gunners in the Premier League this year but he has managed to get some gametime during the EFL Cup. He featured in the club’s win over Nottingham Forest last night and played well.

Despite his good performance, it seems unlikely that he will be handed a first-team opportunity in the Premier League anytime soon, especially with the arrival of Lucas Perez in the same position.

It pushes Akpom further down the pecking order and with no emergency loan system this year – a chance for the forward to go out on loan and get some much needed action – it means he is forced to sit on the sidelines and wait for his chances in the cup games.

Striker sent out on loan

Akpom though is not happy to be sat on the sidelines and has come out and today and claimed he would play anywhere on the field if it meant being able to play for Arsenal – even in goal!

The forward has spent a lot of the past few seasons out on loan. He spent last season on loan and in the years before that, he has also had spells at Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Brentford.

Soon though, he will be hoping that he finally cements a regular playing berth at the Emirates Stadium, rather than relying on loan moves.
