Liverpool and Chelsea could miss out on striker

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira could be on the move after-all, with Chinese duo Jiangsu Suning and Guangzhou Evergrande both showing interest in him.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move away from Ukraine during the January transfer window, with Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool both keen on landing him.

However, neither club agreed to meet Shakhtar‘s asking price of around ÂŁ38million, and the deals fell through.

It was Liverpool who came the closest to signing Teixeira as they formally offered around ÂŁ31m, but that offer was rejected and they refused to launch a new and improved one.

With the English transfer window now shut, Liverpool and Chelsea could both be set to miss out on the striker with interest from China coming in.

Chinese Interest

The Chinese transfer window remains open until the end of February, and according to reports, both Jiangsu and Guangzhou are interested in signing the Brazilian.

Reports are claiming both clubs are prepared to meet Shakhtar’s asking-price for the 26-year-old which could then just leave him to making a decision about his own future.

Jiangsu and Guangzhou have both made high-profile signings in recent weeks, with Ramires signing from Chelsea and Jackson Martinez signing from Atletico Madrid.
