Striker claims their offers were not ‘serious enough’

Alex Teixeira has revealed why he didn’t move to Liverpool this month – because their offers were not serious enough.

The Brazilian striker completed a shock move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Jiangsu Suning late last night after the Chinese club agreed to pay ÂŁ38million for him.

Teixeira was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool over the January transfer period, but three formal offers from them were all declined due to them falling short of Shakhtar‘s asking-price.

The final offer made by Liverpool was worth ÂŁ31m, which still fell ÂŁ7m short of the asking-price.

Talking about the interest from the Premier League, Teixeira admitted a move to Anfield fell through because their offers were not considered serious.

Teixeira Reveals All

“Let’s put it like this: everyone always knew that I wanted to stay in Europe and move to the English Premier League club,” he said.

“But, unfortunately, all the proposals that came from them, were somewhat windy and did not contain anything concrete.

“Now I have received a serious offer from China. Of course, I’m moving there.

“At this stage, Brazil national team will move away from me a little further. But let’s see what happens in the future!

“I wanted to make it to the English Premier League one day.

“But until now, all my thoughts have been focused on Shakhtar. As I said, everything happens so fast that I don’t even have time to realise it.”
