West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has warned Joe Cole there must be no repeat of his antics, after being subbed off early aginst Chelsea.

After being subsituted in the 40th minute against his former club, Cole headed staright for the tunnel in anger and has since apologised for his actions but Allardyce has stressed the importance of the squad sticking together.

“Nobody wants to be substituted before half-time,” said Allardyce.

“Purely from a tactical point of view, I had to change something the way the game was at that stage. That’s my job.”

“All players have to accept it if I bring them off. I prefer that type of reaction in terms of showing the frustration, but not in the public eye. That’s the professionalism you have to show, however frustrated and disappointed you are.”

West Ham have mangaged just nine goals so far in the Premier League and with trips to Crystal Palace and Liverpool coming up, the West Ham boss knows it is crucial they get some points. “We know that in terms of patience we will try to continue to get results. With the way we’re playing we’re very, very close to achieving those.”
