Allegri says Ronaldo suspension could be a positive

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri thinks that Cristiano Ronaldo’s suspension for their Champions League match against Young Boys can turn out to be a positive. Allegri believes that Ronaldo needs some rest after featuring regularly for Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo will serve a one-match suspension due to a red card he received against Valencia for touching an opponent’s hair. Many have criticised the referee for this decision while Allegri said that VAR could have saved Ronaldo.

Allegri said that Ronaldo’s absence won’t affect Juventus as they have the team to pull off the win against Young Boys. He said, “Cristiano needed to rest because he has played so many games. On Saturday he played with great intensity, his best match since being here. Dybala and Mandzukic will line up in attack tomorrow. Bernardeschi can play wide, inside or in the hole. I need to decide his involvement tomorrow.

We must win tomorrow otherwise we would undo the good work of the win against Valencia.”

This season is perhaps Juve’s best chance to win their first Champions League since 1996. They have done brilliantly in the Serie A so far by winning all of their 7 matches. They take on Young Boys today before resuming their Serie A campaign against Udinese on Saturday.
