Napoli boss, Carlo Ancelotti had denied rumors of Cavani’s return

Initially there were linkups that  Edison Cavani could leave hs present side Paris Saint Germain and join his former club Napoli. But the newly appointed Napoli boss has declined the rumors of Cavani rejoining the club.

The boss also made it clear to end the long-linked speculation between the PSG player and the Napoli club.

However Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hinted that the former player could only join the Italian club if he agrees to halves his wage.

When asked about the speculation, the Napoli boss said, “They are rumours that come from every market, then we get ready for January.”

“But I have fantastic players and I’m lucky enough to train them, so I’m not interested in players from the other teams. I still haven’t seen [Dries] Mertens, but in general all of the squad I have available has quality, is competitive, young and has great physical attributes.”

“My impressions have been confirmed on this training camp. Other than the injuries to [Alex] Meret and [Piotr] Zielinski, everyone is available and I think this period will be very useful.”

The boss also looked relaxed about Napoli’s goalkeeper situation. Goalkeeper Meret has sustained a broken arm and will be out of action for some days.

He said,

“Together with the club we are evaluating different situations, we are not in an emergency,” Ancelotti added.

“There is a well-built team and in any case the market closes on August 17. There will still be some movement, but we will do everything with the right calm.
