Andre Villas-Boas hospitalised after Dakar Rally crash
Andre Villas-Boas was taken to hospital following a crash during his Dakar Rally debut. The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager was in the fourth stage but had to withdraw after this incident.
Villas-Boas complained of back pain sustained in an accident that saw him hit a sand dune during the San Juan de Marcona stage in Peru.
Overdrive team director, Jean-Marc Fortin confirmed the incident and said, “Andre was taken to the hospital with a back injury. It was unfortunate for Andre, who was making a very positive debut in the Dakar,”.
The 40-year-old left his role at SIPG Shanghai to focus on a career in Dakar Rally. He had managed to get the club to finish second in the CSL last season and managed to reach the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League in his first year in charge.
