Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that he intends to keep duo Jermain Defoe and Gylfi Sigurdsson at the club amid ongoing speculation that the two players could be leaving White Hart Lane this summer.

Spurs have been busy this summer already, signing three players and letting several players leave as well and reports suggested that Defo and Sigurdsson could be the next two to depart from the North London club.

Defoe has been strongly linked with a move to Championship side Queens Park Rangers so that he could link up with Harry Redknapp once again after working with him at Portsmouth and Tottenham.

As for Sigurdsson, he has struggled to keep a first-team place under AVB and he has been continously linked with a move away from the club despite only signing for them two years ago.

However, Boas revealed in an interview his intentions to keep both players at the club and reassured them that they are both in his plans ahead of the new Premier League season.

“They are players we count on 100 per cent,” Villas-Boas is quoted as saying in the Daily Express. “Sigurdsson is completely in our plans.

“Defoe is a hero for Tottenham and has been doing well. He faces competition which he has always faced during his career.”

A player that could be leaving White Hart Lane is midfielder Scott Park as he is subject of a ÂŁ2million bid from QPR.
