Current West Ham United midfielder Alex Song could make a summer transfer window move to Liverpool.
The 27-year old is on loan at the Hammers from Barcelona, but the East London side are struggling to find funds to make it a permanent switch.
Song is reportedly available for around ÂŁ10 million, which has sparked interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea.
The Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for a quality midfielder to replace the outgoing Steven Gerrard; Song has previous Premier League experience playing for Arsenal.
The former Cameroon international is looking for around ÂŁ80,000-a-week, which again could be covered by the departure of Gerrard to LA Galaxy.
