Argentine reveals his delight at joining French side

Angel Di Maria has spoken out about his move to Paris Saint-Germain despite the two clubs not officially confirming the deal.

Reports have suggested that the deal is close to being finalised, with the Ligue 1 champions paying £44million for the winger, which is £16m less than what Manchester United paid this time last year.

Di Maria failed to settle in England and failed to adapt to Premier League football, meaning he couldn’t have the desired impact on Louis Van Gaal‘s side during the 2015/2016 campaign.

After failing to show up on their pre-season tour of America, Van Gaal admitted that he had no clue what was happening with Di Maria, only for it to be confirmed that he was in fact flying to Qatar to have a PSG medical.

According to reports, the winger completed his medical tests yesterday and will now finalise the transfer with the French club.

Di Maria Reveals Move

Speaking to beIN Sports, Di Maria said: “I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain.

“What I know about PSG is that they are a team who have won all possible titles in France last season. They’re very important.”

“They made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons.

“I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League.”

United will now try and sign FC Barcelona‘s Pedro as a replacement for Di Maria.
