Another Real Madrid Defender Sidelined With Long-Term Injury

Real Madrid have been dealt another injury blow to their already long list of absentees.

Defender, Nacho is set to miss 10 weeks of football after suffering a knee strain against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night. Marcelo came on to replace the Spaniard in the 2-2 Champions League group stage draw against Club Brugge.

Real Madrid published the following report on their website – “Following tests carried out on Nacho Fernández by the Sanitas Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his medial collateral ligament in his right knee. His recovery will continue to be assessed.

“Nacho did not play a single minute for Real Madrid this season until last Wednesday’s win against Osasuna. The Spain international has started Madrid’s last three games while Ferland Mendy and Marcelo have been injured.”

Nacho’s injury will severely hurt Real Madrid’s depth issues this season as Zinedine Zidane continues to battle other problems. The Galacticos went 0-2 down in the first half of last night’s Santiago Bernabeu fixture before managing a comeback in the second.

Goals from Sergio Ramos and Casemiro helped Real save face in their European outing as their rivals, Barcelona prepare to face Inter Milan on Wednesday. Los Blancos are at the bottom of their Champions League group after two games, their first loss coming at the hands of PSG.
