Frenchman sparks speculation after snubbing latest deal
Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has rejected a new deal at the club after they tried to increase his release clause from £62million to a whopping £115m.
The Frenchman has been in negotiations with the La Liga outfit, but he has snubbed terms on a new deal due to their decision to up his release clause, potentially putting off suitors.
Griezmann is one of the hottest strikers in Europe right now and is wanted by several clubs, including Chelsea and Real Madrid, so his decision to reject a new contract could spark a bidding war in the summer.
Contract Dispute
Although Griezmann has openly admitted he’s happy in Spain and intends to stay with Atletico, this fall-out over a new contract could test his relationship with the club and the board.
After snubbing a new contract, the 24-year-old could be subject of formal bids over the summer transfer window, and it’s believed Chelsea could look to renew their interest.
