Genoa captain Luca Antonelli has revealed his desire to one day play for Liverpool.
“My dream is to one day play for Liverpool,” the left-back told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Anfield is like the Luigi Ferraris, their stand is similar to the Gradinata Nord. But I am still young, there will be time to talk about this again.”
In spite of having been hampered in the past by injury trouble, the 27-year-old has come back to prominence and has played a strong part in the team’s success this season, but the left-back believes that most of the credit goes to the team as a whole.
“The group is fundamental,” Antonelli said, explaining the reasons behind Il Grifone’s success. “We go out for dinner every week, all together. And even though training is hard, we have a lot of fun. We’re having an outstanding season, but we want to keep it up.”
Antonelli has helped guide Genoa into the top four in Serie A this season.
He signed for Genoa for 7 million euros from Parma in January 2011, and has seven caps for the Italian national side.
