Italian expected to take over at Chelsea and won’t try to sign Everton defender
Antonio Conte has stunned Chelsea officials by informing them he isn’t interested in signing Everton centre-back John Stones.
It was well documented throughout last summer that Chelsea were desperate to do business with Everton regarding the centre-back, but had their efforts knocked back numerous times.
Jose Mourinho was keen to add Stones to his back-line, but Roberto Martinez was not interested in selling him, despite offers of nearly £40million being put on the table.
It was expected that the Blues would once again go in for Stones this summer, especially with John Terry leaving and Kurt Zouma sidelined with a serious knee injury.
Conte Not Keen
However, Conte, who is expected to take over at Stamford Bridge, has reportedly told club officials that he is not interested in signing the Toffees defender.
It’s believed Conte would rather see the club sign Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, as he offers more experience to the defence.
