Italian coach tops Roman Abramovich’s wishlist

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is already preparing for life after Jose Mourinho and it appears he’s found his ideal manager, Antonio Conte.

The Italian head-coach has a successful club record, winning titles with Serie A side Juventus before taking over as Italy’s manager, and Abramovich is keen to have him at Stamford Bridge.

Conte has revealed his desires to return to club management after Euro 2016, but Chelsea want to make their move for the manager quicker.

Mourinho Out/Conte In

It’s believed Mourinho will be sacked if Chelsea fail to seal qualification to the Champions League knockout stages, which could happen if they lose to FC Porto tomorrow night.

Should Mourinho lose his job, Abramovich will turn to Conte in offering him the job, even before the Euros this summer.

Other names being linked are Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola, but it looks certain both of those will be heading to Manchester to take charge of Manchester United and Manchester City respectively in the near-future.

If Abramovich can’t get Conte right away, he may appoint an interim manager until the summer and then give the job full-time to the Italian head-coach after the Euros.
