Antonio Conte has revealed his thoughts on Cesc Fabregas’ performance in Chelsea’s clash with Manchester City over the weekend,

The Blues boss has praised Cesc Fabregas  after Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Manchester City on Saturday.

Nemanja Matic was out injured and Fabregas was called up to the starting line-up at The Etihad, even though he has not featured that much for Cthe Blues at all this season.

Cesc set up fellow team mate Diego Costa’s goal with a quality long pass as Chelsea came from 0-1 down to beat the Citizens 3-1 thanks to efforts from Willian and Eden Hazard.

The Spanish midfielder has been forced to watch from the sidelines for much of the season and Fabregas had not started a game since the 3-0 loss to Arsenal earlier in the campaign.

However, Conte was delighted with the way Fabregas quickly adapted to what was needed after being recalled to the team.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Conte said: “I’m pleased for Cesc above all because this game wasn’t easy for him.

“The last game he played for Chelsea in the line-up was against Arsenal, and then he had an injury. He recovered and I’m very happy for his performance.

“He must continue to improve. For me to have more options is good. It’s important to have the whole squad available.”
