Andrea Pirlo was linked with a move to Chelsea by Ray Wilkins in an interview with TalkSport.
Turns out it was fake news.
The New York City FC midfielder was linked with a job replacing the outgoing assistant coach at Stamford Bridge, however, The Blues boss has once again called out the mainstream media and lying pundits fake news.
Conte insisted Pirlo’s arrival is simply out of the question as the veteran playmaker, who is currently at MLS side New York City, still wants to continue his playing career.
The Chelsea boss said: “I’m listening to a lot of things [about replacing Steve Holland]. This one is very strange because Pirlo is still playing and he wants to continue to play.
“I don’t know why someone wants to put me in this type of situation. It’s normal for me but it’s important to be focused on the present for me and my players.
“The present is now more important than the future for all. I want to finish this season as a great season, not just a good one.”
