Turan reveals why he snubbed Man United & Chelsea

Arda Turan has said it is a “dream” to sign for Barcelona, but revealed his frustration at missing the first six months of the season.

Barcelona‘s transfer embargo, for breaching FIFA rules over signing under age players, means that Turan will have to wait until January 2016 to make his first team debut.

The Turkey international completed a £24 million move from Atletico Madrid on Monday, as he chose to stay in Spain over a move to England.

Premier League champions Chelsea and Manchester United were both interested, and felt they had an advantage in offering the attacking midfielder games from the word go.

But the 28 year old felt that he could not turn down the treble winners, and what he describes as the “best team in the world.”

Turan told Sport: “Everyone comes from somewhere and I come from a small place in Turkey to go and play for the best team in the world.

“Playing at Barca is a dream, every footballer wants to play at the Camp Nou, the best stadium I’ve been at.

“Not playing until January is a problem, but I’m not here for six months. I’m here to win trophies over five years.”

Some Spanish media outlets are even reporting that Turan will be sent out on loan until January to gain match sharpness, with a return to his first club Galatasaray a possibility.
