Deal in principle has been agreed

Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle with FC Porto for star-striker Jackson Martinez, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has been one of Europe’s standout strikers in recent seasons, but his loyalty to the Portuguese club has prevented him from securing a move away.

Interest in Martinez

However, the Colombian is finally ready to make a move and challenge himself at another club in a different league, and it looks like Arsenal are his chosen team.

Martinez, who has scored 32 goals so far this season in all competitions, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both keen.

Arsenal Favourites

According to reports in Portugal, Arsenal and Porto have agreed a deal in principle which will see Martinez move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of Martinez for his overall presence on the field, and it finally looks like the Frenchman is set to land himself a star-striker.

Arsenal only have two strikers at the club currently, Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud, so Martinez coming in will help take the workload off the duo and will also add more goals to The Gunners.

Fans’ Farewell

Despite nothing formal being arranged as of yet, the Porto fans have already had a send-off for the striker as they said their farewell’s during the club’s final home game.
