Both Arsenal and Chesea have been handed new hope in the pursuit of Mattia Destro, with the Italian revealing plans for his future.

The 23-year-old has been used sporadically by Roma manager Rudi Garcia at the Stadio Olimpico, with the striker having 18-months remaining on his current deal at the Italian outfit.

In recent weeks, Destro has stated his discontent at his lack of girst team football at the title chasers.

Speaking to Italian media, Destro, who signed for Roma from fellow Serie A side Siena in 2012, stated: “Am I like the sixth man in basketball?

“It’s better to be in the first five. I like the comparison, but honestly my ambition is to be among the starters.

“The only thing that doesn’t change is my commitment to give the best in every minute I play.

“At 23, you shouldn’t be considered a youngster, but it must be said it’s difficult for young players.

“And there’s something that should make us think – if a young player has a certain level of ability they go abroad.”

Those comments have handed both Arsenal and Chelsea new hope in a potential signing, however the London duo may face competition from AC Milan for his signature.
