Arsenal and Chelsea will have to look elsewhere for a forward this January after Boca Juniors accepted a bid from Inter Milan for Jonathan Calleri.

The Serie A side had a £10.1 million bid accepted for the 22-year-old and are now just awaiting the completion of the final details for him to join in January.

Calleri, who partners Carlos Tevez in the Boca attack, has notched an impressive 21 goals this campaign which attracted the attention from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

With Arsene Wenger keen to provide support for Olivier Giroud and Jose Mourinho needing goals to pull Chelsea out of relegation danger, Calleri was high on their lists.

“There’s good news about Calleri,” representative Angelo Paradiso told Italian outlet Il Sussidiario.

“The purchase (to Inter) is almost done, we’re just lacking the final details. We’re talking about a figure close to €14m (£10.1m).”

However, the uncapped Argentinian is likely to be loaned out to a fellow Serie A side for the remainder of the season in a bid to get the young star some experience of the league.

“There’s a real possibility that he could be loaned out to another club to gain experience and Bologna is the most likely destination,” Paradiso added.
