Charles Aranguiz joins Bayer Leverkusen
Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz has snubbed Arsenal and Chelsea to join Bayer Leverkusen.
The defensive midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga club, with just a final transfer fee to be agreed for the 26-year-old.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of the player and was interested him in bringing him to Stamford Bridge in an £8million deal, while Arsenal have closely monitored the Chile international for the past two seasons.
However, the German giants have beaten the Premier League duo to sign the Chilean, and have made a £10.6million bid for the player.
Agreement Reached
Leverkusen club president Michael Schade admitted the deal is not finished yet, he said: “We found an agreement with the player, but not with the club.”
Aranguiz, who’s international team-mate Arturo Vidal previously played for Leverkusen, currently plays his trade in Brazil for Internacional.
He really impressed managers all around the world when he played alongside Vidal in the recent Copa America, where hosts Chile were crowned champions.
Mourinho is currently looking for a defensive midfielder.
