Manchester City and Arsenal are set for a last minute battle for out of favour Atlético Madrid forward Mario Mandzukic.
The former Bayern Munich striker has failed to recapture the prolific form he found in Germany, and has recently fell further down the pecking order thanks to a return to form for previously misfiring Fernando Torres.
Despite already shelling out the best part of £30m, the Citizens are willing to pay £26m for the 28-year-old Croat, possibly spelling the end of Stevan Jovetic’s uninspiring Manchester City career.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will be targeting attacking reinforcements now that they have seemingly solved their lack of depth in defence with the signing of Gabriel Paulista.
Should the Gunners be willing to match City’s valuation of Mandzukic, it could make for an interesting transfer battle as we head for the end of the winter window.
