Brazilian club Corinthians are willing to listen to offers for striker Alexandre Pato, after the Brazilian club claim that they regret the transfer, due to the Brazilian’s recent performaces.
Club director Roberto de Andrade has stated that the door is open for possible offers, which the Brazilian club will accept.
Pato has failed to live up to expectations since his return to Brazil in January following a reported £12 million move to Corinthians, after Pato had spent six successful years in Italy with AC Milan, after signing for the Italian giants from Internacional as a teenager.
Pato scored 51 goals in 170 games for AC Milan, but left following Milan’s capture of former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.
Despite scoring with his first touch on his Corinthians debut, a lack of goals has resulted in Pato coming in for criticism in his first year at the club, but de Andrade was quick to defend the forward.
And he also moved to play down suggestions that Pato could be set for a swift move away from the club.
Reports are suggesting that both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in the forward, as Arsenal tried to sign Pato in 2010, and then again in January, but failed after Pato opted to move to his homeland.
The Italian press are also stating Pato is a target for a trio of Italian clubs, including former club AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus are all interested.
When we bought Pato, it was because it was an opportunity, he is a great player,” he told the Brazilian media.
“He is a kid – still very young – we don’t regret it. He will make the fans very happy.
“We can negotiate about him, like any player. But in order to have a negotiation, there must be clubs interested in signing him and Pato so far has not asked to leave.”
The Brazilian regular season has come to a close, and Pato may want to impress in a top European League in order to win Scolari over.
