Manager confirms club are looking to strengthen

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are looking to strengthen before the transfer window shuts, but Sevilla midfielder Gregorz Krychowiak isn’t a target.

The Gunners have only signed Petr Cech so far this summer from London-rivals Chelsea, but they’re expected to make at least one more signing before the deadline with a striker and a holding-midfielder both rumoured to be on the radar.

Over the past few weeks Arsenal have been strongly linked with Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, and over the past few days, Krychowiak has become a reported target, or so it was reported.

However, in today’s press conference, Wenger confirmed that the club are active, but the Sevilla midfielder isn’t a player on his radar.

Following their 2-0 loss to West Ham United on opening day, reports emerged that Wenger would take drastic action in the window, but the Frenchman confirmed that his intentions haven’t changed despite the defeat.

Wenger Reveals Plans

He said: “We were as open before that result as after. We are working hard and focused on what can strengthen our squad.

“The availability is not big.

“Now it is important we focus on our game on Sunday.”

Wenger was then asked about Krychowiak, but he simply responded with: “No.”
