Arsenal are reportedly re-interested in signing Manchester United centre-back, Chris Smalling, which would make him the second signing from The Red Devils in the past 12 months.
The Gunners shocked everyone by signing Danny Welbeck on Transfer Deadline Day over the Summer and according to reports, Wenger now wants to bring Smalling to the Emirates as defensive cover for Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista.
It’s widely reported that Per Mertesacker could be on his way out of the club this Summer, which would leave Arsenal with the above mentioned partnership, as well as Calum Chambers, as centre-back options.
However, Wenger is keen on launching a £12million bid for the English centre-half, who is was first interested in back during his Fulham days.
Now 26-years-old, Smalling has struggled to develop at Old Trafford but a move to Arsenal could be something that interests him.
