According to Brazilian newspaper Lance! Arsenal had there £6.5 million bid for Corinthians forward Alexendre Pato rejected
The 24 yr old moved back home from Serie A side AC Milan on a £12 million transfer in January
Arsenal are currently leading the EPL, but Wenger is still looking to add another much needed front man to ease some pressure off current forward Olivier Giroud.
The Arsenal boss also has another target man Nicklas Bendtner, but it is understood that Wenger is currently looking to offload the Denmark international in January so he will need a replacement.
Corinthians have stated that they are open to sell Pato, But will hold out for a higher bid when the transfer market gets underway again.
Although Pato has only netted 10 goals in 25 games for Corinthians, he is still eyeing a place in Brazil`s World Cup team and thinks a move back to Europe could help push for a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari`s Setup
However, he has also faced the wrath of his own supporters following a number of unimpressive performances and after a dismal penalty in a shootout against Gremio saw his side knocked out of the Copa do Brazil in October.
He has also started just three of the clubs last 11 league matches.
Pato is no stranger to interest from North London, with Tottenham Hotspur having monitored him during the last 12 months as well.
