Arsene Wenger urged to spend big

The Arsenal board are making funds available for the end of the season in the hope that Arsene Wenger changes his approach and competes for the top players in the market this summer.

With Arsenal set to miss out on yet another league title, as well as being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in recent weeks, the chiefs feel it’s time to invest serious money into the squad this summer.

This goes against Wenger‘s normal policy of buying moderately priced players and letting them develop over time, however it’s understood the board are frustrated with this season’s performance and want investment into the team.

Finances Made Available

With over £150 million rumoured to be available for Wenger to spend, it could see the club bid for players such as Paul Pogba, Toni Kroos, John Stones and Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

With just Petr Cech and Mohamed Elneny arriving at the Gunners over recent windows, the board feel that now is the time to seriously invest in the squad so that key players including Mesut Ozil don’t get frustrated at another trophy less campaign.

Spending the cash will be Wenger’s best chance of pleasing the board and persuading them to offer him a new deal, with the Frenchman having just one year remaining on his current contract with the club.
