Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed the reason behind letting Reiss Nelson leave on loan. The youngster recently signed for Hoffenheim on a season long deal.

Before leaving Emirates the youngster put pen to paper to a long term deal to extend his stay at the Emirates. The 18 year old had a pretty busy last season under the guidance of Arsene Wenger. He was pretty frequent in the cup competitions and also made some brief appearances in the Premier League.

Predominantly a right winger, the youngster can also be deployed on the left side. With Hoffenheim participating in the Champions League this season the winger can also accumulate some valuable minutes in Europe.

Emery has a very clear plan about the player and wants the player to have some first team game time which could help him gain more experience. “It’s a very big chance for him and the level there is important.

“We think, because he is very young, he needs to take a new level to play, a new level also to get minutes, to get experience.

“It’s for that reason we were speaking at the club with the coaches about this possibility and also, with him, we decided together: club, coaches and the player.

“It’s a good chance for him to get minutes in and play, and then come back with us because he signed a new contract with us.”
