Portuguese sensation, William Carvalho, may be coming to the Premier League in January, but it is going to cost one of the top clubs £35million. That’s the word coming out of Sporting Lisbon.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder from Angolan descent is causing quite a stir in the footballing world with Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all said to be very interested in bringing him to English shores.
Having already represented his adopted country in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Carvalho has a very bright future ahead of him and Sporting know that. He has a £35million ‘release clause’ in his contract and the Portugeuse club are going to use that in their favour if there is an offer in January.
Manchester United may have the upper hand in the race for Carvalho, as there has been much talk of a ‘season-end’ player swap with Nani, although Sporting have suggested that may just be conjecture, as they won’t be able to meet Nani’s wage demands.
If Carvalho is allowed to stay in Lisbon for the remainder of the season, Sporting may be open to a reduced asking price next summer. We shall see.
